Marisa Bubica Wins Season's Final Big West Player of the Week Award
December 01, 2014 | Women's Volleyball
IRVINE, Calif. – Marisa Bubica ended the season on yet another high note, winning the final Big West Player of the Week award of the 2014 season.
The outside hitter led UCI to an upset over third-place CSUN last week by knocking down 24 kills and tying a career-high with a .455 hitting percentage. Bubica, who had dealt with injuries during the year, did not start against the Matadors and came off the bench to lead the team to the four-set win.
Bubica committed just four errors in 44 attempts, putting up identical numbers against Pepperdine earlier this year to match her personal best.
The outside hitter, who was named to the All-Big West Conference first team, ends the year with her second weekly award of the 2014 season. Bubica led the team with a 4.12 kill average and totaled 342 kills to go along with 52 digs and 31 blocks.
