Women's Indoor Track & Field Opens Schedule Jan. 18

IRVINE, Calif. --- The UC Irvine women's indoor track and field team will be familiar with Seattle by March as the Anteaters will compete four times this season in the Emerald City.
UCI, under first-year head coach Jeff Perkins, opens its schedule Jan. 18 in the UW Indoor Preview at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle.
The Anteaters return to Dempsey for the UW Invitational Jan. 31-Feb. 1 and the Husky Classic Feb. 14-15.
Seattle will also be the host site for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships Feb. 28-Mar. 1.
The NCAA Indoor Championships will be conducted Mar. 14-15 at the Albuquerque (N.M.) Convention Center.
UCI junior Itos Aikhionbare recorded three top-five finishes in the shot put last indoor season and she ranks No. 2 all-time outdoors for the Anteaters in the event.
Senior Ericka Nowell, who was a redshirt last year, ranks second on UCI's Top 10 list in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles and she is a two-time Big West Conference outdoor champion in the event.
