- Serving and defense continue to be the keys for UC Irvine as the Anteaters own the top average in aces in the Big West at 1.48 and are second in blocking (2.50) and digs (15.71).
- UCI is ranked 58th in the country in dig average, 59th in blocking and 65th in aces.
- The Anteaters will look to turn things around after posting a 4-6 mark in the last 10 matches.
BUBICA PACES UCI IN CENTRAL COAST
- Marisa Bubica posted eight kills in both matches last week to lead UCI with 16 on the weekend.
- The redshirt sophomore is averaging 3.13 kills per set and has 194 kills this year.
FLEMING HEATS UP ENDLINE
- Shannon Fleming logged four aces last week to tie for the team-high and has fired 22 service winners this year to sit second in the Big West at .35
- Fleming is also second in the conference in blocking at 1.13 and has posted 70 total blocks on 64 block assists and six solo stuffs.
- The best in the Big West battle it out this Saturday as Fleming goes up against Hawai'i's Emily Hartong, who leads the league in aces at .39 and has 19 on the year.
SQUIRES CLIMBING CAREER RECORDS
- Aly Squires continues to rise in the UCI career records and is fifth in total attempts with 3,816 and eighth in kills with 1,134.
- Squires has a team-high 200 kills this season with a 3.23 average. She is second on the team with 167 digs and tied for fourth with 11 aces.
DAVIS JUMPS TO THIRD
- Arden Davis leapt into the Big West top 10 at No. 3 this week with a 3.39 dig average.
- The freshman picked up 23 digs last week with 13 against the Mustangs and 10 against the Gauchos.
- She currently leads UCI with 177 digs and has reached double-figure digs in eight consecutive matches.
ACES FOR ANDERSON
- Shelley Anderson also totaled four aces last weekend and is second among the Anteater leaders with 17 on the year.
- The setter is averaging 8.32 assists and is seventh in the Big West. The southpaw has also put away 42 kills for UCI while scooping up 115 digs.
MANZ MINDS THE NET
- Arielle Manz topped the Anteaters with six blocks and boasts a 1.12 average to sit third in the Big West.
- The middle blocker has logged 66 blocks on 60 assists and six solo blocks. She has also put away 68 kills on the offensive end.
WAHINE NEWS
- Hawai'i is 13-1 overall and takes an 11-match win streak to Long Beach State before traveling down to Irvine.
- The team is led by Emily Hartong, who has 220 kills and a Big West-topping 4.49 kill average.
- Hawaii has dropped a set just eight sets this year and has posted nine sweeps.
- UCI has never beaten Hawai'i and is 0-26 in the series records. The Anteaters were swept by the Rainbow Wahine in Honolulu last year but pushed UH to five sets at home.
HOW THEY MATCH UP
- Hawai'i owns a .304 hitting percentage and leads the league in assists at 13.43 and kills (14.59).
- The Anteaters hold the edge in digs at 15.71, blocks at 2.50 and aces at 1.48.
- The two teams are second and third in opponent hitting percentage with UH holding teams to a .166 clip and UCI holding the opposition to a .190 percentage.
