
UCI Alum Charles Jock Captures First in Switzerland

LUCERNE, Switzerland --- Former UC Irvine standout Charles Jock won his first race since turning professional last summer with a victory in the 800 meters at a meet in Lucerne, Switzerland, Wednesday night.
Jock used a late kick to earn first place with a time of 1:46.18. Brandon Johnson of the U.S. was second in 1:46.41 while Abraham Kiplagat of Kenya finished third in 1:46.54.
Jock, a three-time All-American and Big West Conference Track Athlete of the Year, won the 2012 NCAA title in the 800 meters with a time of 1:45.59 at Des Moines, Iowa, becoming UCI's first individual NCAA champion in 34 years.
