AUSTIN, Texas --- The 2013 season ended Thursday for UC Irvine sophomore Riley Martin and senior Sam Hyams at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas.

Running in different heats of the 1500 meters first round, Martin had a time of 4:00.19 and Hyams 4:03.44 as they did not advance to Saturday's quarterfinal.

Sophomore Mason Miller competes in the shot put Friday beginning at 4:00 p.m. (PT).  He recorded a career-best mark of 57-4 ¼ in the Big West Conference Championships May 11 at Northridge.  That mark ranks No. 3 in UCI history.
