The Anteaters return home to host New Mexico State Wednesday (Dec. 18) at 7:00 p.m. in the Bren Center before heading to the University of San Diego Friday (Dec. 20) for a 6:00 p.m. game at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Wednesday's game will be the first time UCI has played at the Bren Center since the home opener on Nov. 10.
New Mexico State holds a 17-10 advantage over UCI in the series.
The two teams met last year at the Hotel Encanto Thanksgiving Classic where NM State had a 50-44 win over UCI.
New Mexico State was a member of the Big West Conference from 1990-2000.
New Mexico State's head coach Mark Trakh has a brother, Maz, who was an assistant coach with the UC Irvine men's basketball team and currently serves as an assistant coach/player development for former Anteater player Scott Brooks and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Aggies are 3-6 overall, dropping the last two contests, including a 65-55 loss to New Mexico last Saturday.
San Diego holds a 14-13 advantage in the series with the Anteaters. UCI took the last contest, 58-53 on Nov. 30, 2008 at the Jenny Craig Pavilion
USD received votes in the Associated Press Top-25 poll for the third consecutive week.
The Toreros are undefeated on the season at 10-0. San Diego kept their perfect record intact with a 68-51 win at Long Beach State last Friday.
Junior Katelyn McDaniel was named WCC Player of the Week after recording a double-double against the Forty-Niners.
The Toreros are the last WCC team without a loss and are currently holding a RPI rank of No. 18.
UCI assistant coach Michelle Augustavo played for the University of San Diego from 2004-06. She holds the school record for points in a game (42) and is tied for the school record for most field goals made and attempted (15-26) and three-pointers made and attempted (10-19) against Clemson on Dec. 11, 2005.
Mokun Fajemisin and Jenny Dee both have brothers who play on the USD men's basketball team.
UCI enters the week with a 5-5 record.
The Anteaters dropped a 99-94 loss at Sacramento State in the lone game last week.
UCI's 94 points was the most scored since Feb. 25, 1988 when the Anteaters beat San Jose State, 97-57 in Irvine.
The Anteaters shot a season-high 52 percent (39-75) from the field. UCI had a season-high eight three-pointers, 25 assists and 39 field goals made.
Sacramento State went 21-55 from long range, setting a new NCAA record for most three-pointers attempted in a game. The 21 threes is also the most made in the nation this season.
Senior forward Camille Buckley had a career-best 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Anteaters in the loss to the Hornets.
Senior guard Jennifer Tsurumoto totaled 19 points and a career-high seven assists, while senior guard Vanessa Aguilar came off the bench to hit four three-pointers and total 16 points. Senior forward Jazmyne White recorded 12 points and junior forward Methlyn Onogomuho had a career-best 12 rebounds.
10 of the 11 UCI players in uniform scored at least two points.
Buckley leads the team and is seventh in the Big West in scoring (15.4) and is third in the league in rebounding (10.1). She is one of three Big West players to average a double-double. The senior forward has five double-doubles on the year which is second most in the league.
UCI leads the Big West in three-point field goal percentage at .330, making 65 of 197 attempts from long range. The Anteaters are second in field goal percentage defense (.390), assist/turnover ratio (0.99) and offensive rebounds (16.00). UCI is third in scoring at a 70.5 clip.
Junior guard Madison McKenney is second in the conference in three-point field goal percentage with a .464 mark (13-28), while senior guard Vanessa Aguilar ranks third at .450 (18-40).
