HEADERS

  • Senior Jordan Bruce leads the squad with 1,466 minutes played. Mady Solow, Natalia Ledezma, Alana Sooy, and Zoya Farzaneh join her with over 1,400 minutes.
  • Four 'Eaters have recorded two-assist matches in 2013: Jordan Bruce (9/20 at LMU), Jasmine Nickelberry (10/10 vs. UCR), Laura McGrail (10/13 vs. UCD), and most-recently Jenna Pellegrino (10/27 at CSUN).
  • UCI did not play in overtime during the regular season.
  • UCI has had a wide range of results during the 2013 season:

IN THE BOX

  • UCI enters the Big West Tournament at 11-6-0, 6-2-0, the No. 2 seed in the Tournament. The 'Eaters have finished second in the Big West three times: 1996, 1998, and 2000. Only one of those seasons (1996) was there a tournament. UCI defeated Pacific, 2-0, in overtime before falling, 2-0, to Cal Poly in the final.
  • UCI is 7-7-2 all-time in the postseason with 18 total goals.

  • UCR fell to common opponents UNLV and Fresno State.
  • Its Big West wins came against LBSU, CSUN, Hawaii, and tournament host, Cal State Fullerton.
  • Tyler Cunningham leads all scorers with four, including two on Sunday to defeat LBSU, and two game-winners.
  • Sammy Arellano is tied with her for the team lead with eight points (3 goals, 2 assists).
  • Elizabeth Silas is 6-10-1 on the year. In 18 matches, she has allowed 24 goals while stopping 73 shots.
  • The Anteaters' +7 goal differential is tops in the Big West.
  • UCI was picked second, tied with LBSU, in the Big West Preseason Coaches poll behind favorite CSUF.

FREE KICKS

  • UCI defeated sixth-ranked BYU in Provo, Utah, the highest-ranked win in program history, in front of 4,672 fans. UCI also played No. 12 Texas A&M to a 0-0 draw in an exhibition match.
  • UC Irvine's RPI standing is currently 67th, highest in the Big West.
  • UC Irvine's non-conference schedule ranked as the ninth-toughest according to allwhitekit.com, and those opponents currently have a combined record of 83-66-18 including six 10-win programs.
  • The Anteaters' schedule includes seven schools currently in the top-100 RPI; Denver (13), BYU (17), Washington State (18), Cal (39), San Diego (89), LBSU (95), and Oregon (99).

CORNERS

  • Five Anteaters have been named Big West Player of the Week in 2013. Jordan Bruce was named defensive player of the week for the third time on Oct. 28 alongside first-timer Laura McGrail named offensive POTW. Natalia Ledezma earned offensive honors the week of Sept. 16 along with Bruce's first defensive honor after defeating No. 6 BYU.
  • UC Irvine has now made the Big West Tournament field in six of Head Coach Scott Juniper's seven seasons.
  • The 'Eaters brought back six starters from the 2012 squad including preseason award-winners Natalia Ledezma, Haley O'Brien, and Corey Tobin.
  • Ledezma was named the preseason favorite for Big West Offensive Player of the Year according to collegesportsmadness.com.

IN THE BOOKS

  • Natalia Ledezma has inserted herself all along the Anteater record books. She became the 10th Anteater to reach 50 career points and stands sixth all-time with 57.
  • Ledezma's scored her 21st career goal vs. CSUF becoming the 10th Anteater to reach 20 and tying her with Lori Muzzonigro for eighth all-time.
  • The goal was also her eighth career game-winning goal of the her career tying her for third all-time with Mar Rodriguez, Tanya Taylor, and Stephanie Rigamat.
  • The game-winner was Ledezma's fifth of the season, the second-highest single season total.
  • Laura McGrail's six career game-winners tie her for seventh.
  • Ledezma's 15 assists put her all alone in seventh.
  • Jenn Randazzo moves to a tie for sixth amongst Anteaters with 11 career shutouts.
  • Corey Tobin is tied for seventh in program history with 12 wins. Randazzo is tied for fourth with 22.
  • Zoya Farzaneh will play her 78th career match Thursday, tying her with Mar Rodriguez for 10th-most in program history.
  • It will also be Farzaneh's 10 postseason match tying her for the most in program history.
  • Freshman Sammie James scored in the 81st minute against Cal, 30 seconds into her Anteater career.

SOCCER AT THE NEXT LEVEL

  • CoCo Goodson was drafted by Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League based in New Jersey. Sky Blue FC fell 2-0 to Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd of the Western New York Flash in the NWSL semifinals. During the season, Goodson scored one goal.
  • Rachel Wood joined club HK Kopavogur / Vikingur Reykjavik of Iceland. The club finished 5-13-2, ninth in the Urvalsdeild league. Wood scored her first professional goal Aug. 13th in the 51st minute against Thor / KA, and added a second in a 2-1 season finale win against Afturelding with the  eventual game-winner in the 42nd minute.
