Kiara Belen, a 2012 graduate of UC Irvine, was a four year letterwinner and team captain of the women's basketball team and is currently a contestant on America's Next Top Model College Edition. ANTM airs every Friday on the CW at 8:00 p.m. PST.
Hi Everybody!!
It's me, Kiara from America's Next Top Model! I hope you guys are enjoying the show. I loved the fact that this season was a college edition and I was able to represent UCI. It was so amazing being a part of this! As you might have seen on the first episode, I was chosen as one of the 13 girls to get a spot in the ANTM Sorority house. Meeting Tyra Banks for the first time was incredible. She's just as pretty as she looks on TV and super down to earth. When I got chosen to be in the house, it was one of the best moments of my life. If you've been watching, you know that I had a rough upbringing. I never thought something like this would happen to me. So when it did, I was overwhelmed with joy, and couldn't hold back my tears. I'm not going to lie, it was quite stressful at times. Some of the other girls and I never really got along. I blamed it on the fact that many of us had big personalities that tended to clash at times. Added to the fact that it was an intense competition, there was bound to be drama. I just had to make sure it didn't effect my performance in the competition. (It didn't).
I had a chance to meet Tyler Perry! If your wondering how "real" this reality show is, NOTHING was scripted and everyday was a surprise. I was completely shocked when he walked out. When we were told what the prize was for winning that challenge, I knew I had to win. A walk on role in a Tyler Perry movie is such a great opportunity. If you didn't see it, I won!! I will be appearing in a Tyler Perry production. That's wild! I'm so excited. The other girls were so jealous it was insane. By the way, we start working on it at the beginning of next year!
Last Friday's Episode 5 of ANTM was titled: The Girl Who Sings For Alicia Keys. During this episode, our challenge was a runway walk-off for Alicia's charity called To Save A Child. Whoever had the best walk and raised the most money for the charity, got to pick a friend and go on tour with Alicia at a concert for her new album, Girl On Fire. On one calm day in the ANTM Sorority House, I was reading on my bed when all of the sudden Alicia Keys and Tyra Banks walk into my room!! I was left speechless and the only thing I could do was cry. Since childhood, Alicia has been one of my idols. She's strong, beautiful, talented, and was one of the women who inspired me to start singing at a young age. When I told her that, Tyra asked me to sing something for her and that I had to make it up right there!! I was a little nervous, but knew that if I didn't take that opportunity, I'd kick myself forever. Luckily, she loved it! If you didn't watch the show, I won the challenge!! I picked Nastasia to go with me! Two challenge wins in a row did not sit too well with some of the other girls. The jealousy strengthens and the hatred continues. The photo shoot theme was being shot in motion. We were actually tossed up in the air like cheerleaders and shot on the way down. I'd like to shout out any UCI cheerleader who might be reading this for a little inspiration during the show!! That was hard, I was a little "shaky" at first, but got the hang of it. I survived another elimination and will live to see another episode airing tonight (Friday the 28th) at 8:00pm on the CW Network. We get to pose with a temperamental animal and do a challenge with the sexy Rob Evans! Don't miss it!
The competition is really starting to heat up, especially after that challenge win. Get ready for more drama, crazy challenges, and incredible photo shoots. I've decided to write this blog to share my thoughts and feelings about every episode. Each one will get more and more detailed. I can honestly say that every episode gets better and better!
