HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. --- Whitney Pavlik and Jenny Kropp breezed through Day 2 of the Hermosa Beach Open, with three straight wins.

The duo, ranked No. 1 domestically, Lane Carico and Ashley Lee, 21-17, 21-8 and then posted a 21-13, 21-12 decision over Kim DiCello and Lynne Galli. Pavlik and Kropp capped the day with a 21-15-, 21-12 win over the team of Suzanne Barnes and Michelle Williams.

In three matches, Pavlik put away 40 kills and fired four aces while Kropp recorded 36 kills, 16 blocks and an ace.

The pair will open play on today against No. 5 seeded Kristen Batt (Venice, Fla.) and Raquel Ferreira (Minas Geras, Brazil) to vie for a spot in the semifinals.
