UPCOMING MATCHES
Home matches in BOLD
No matches this week
No matches for two weeks for the Anteaters. With half of the Big West in the rearview, UCI looks to keep its conference standing and raise its national standing.
COMING UP, GOING DOWN: UC Irvine seems to be on a bit of a hot streak with eight wins in the 'Eaters' last nine matches. Two of those wins have come against ranked opponents, and the only loss has come to a ranked opponent.
All of this success has yielded little in return, however. UCI began this run ranked No. 58, and after an initial rise to 54th, the Anteaters have since fallen to 63rd and now completely out of the rankings.
The recent win over No. 72 USD may help the team's cause, but with only one ranked school on the horizon, and most of UCI's ranked opponent that it has already played slipping, UCI might find itself out of the rankings even with this string of wins increasing.
LOOKING AHEAD TO THE BIG WEST: The Anteaters have gone throughmost of the meat of the Big West already with wins against Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara, and a loss to Long Beach State.
Cal State Northridge and UC Davis still lurk on the slate for the Anteaters who find themselves right in the heat of the Big West race. Fortunately, UCI will get to play the Matadors at home along with the last-place Highlanders.
After a trip to a ranked Sacramento State squad, UCI will finish out its season with a daunting trip to UC Davis and Pacific as it looks to maintain its No. 2 position in the Big West with the impending Big West Championships.
