UCI Alum Mike Lavery Makes Cut at Nationwide Tour Event in Colombia

BOGOTA, Colombia --- UC Irvine alumnus Mike Lavery shot even-par 71 in Friday's second round of the Nationwide Tour's Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship presented by Samsung in Bogota, Colombia.

Lavery, who is in 17th place, made the cut with his 36-hole total of 3-under par 139.  He shot 1-over 36 on the front nine and 1-under 35 on the back during Friday's round at the Country Club de Bogota. 

Billy Horschel is the leader at 10-under 132 after his second straight round of 5-under 66.

John Chin, another Anteater alum, shot even-par 71 Friday but missed the cut that came at 1-over.  He stood at 5-over 147 for his two rounds.

Lavery, who played at UCI from 1999-2003, won the 2003 Big West individual title and was a three-time All-Big West honoree.

Chin was a 2010 Golfweek and PING All-America First Team (first in UCI's NCAA Division I history) and he was named to the 2010 All-Nicklaus team.

He was a three-time Big West Conference Golfer of the Year and two-time medalist at the Big West Conference Championship, including 2010 when he won the 54-hole tournament by nine shots.
