GAME NOTES
- Kristin Winkler broke two records in one week, becoming UCI's single-season record holder in digs after a 21-dig effort against Fresno State. Winkler passed Brenda Waterman, who posted 600 digs in 2003 to erase a nine-year old mark. Then with 25 digs against Long Beach State, the libero became the Big West Conference career leader in digs, passing former CSF Titan, Cami Croteau's 2007-10 total of 2,164.
- With two matches remaining, Winkler has amassed 2,211 digs.
- Winkler is the only Anteater to own four Top 10 spots in the UCI single-season annals.
- Mackenzi Campbell tied a career-high with 10 digs against Fresno State and handed out a personal-best 37 assists.
- Taylor Smith put together her best offensive game this year against the Bulldogs, hitting .450 in the sweep. Smith had just one error in 20 attempts and put away 13 kills.
- Shannon Fleming fired five aces in two matches last week, with two against Fresno State and three against the Beach. The middle blocker has posted at least two aces in the last three matches and jumped to seventh in the conference with a .25 average.
- Fleming is second on the team with 23 aces.
- Aly Squires led UCI in both matches, posting a combined 32 kills and 30 digs. Squires had just three errors to go along with 15 kills against FSU and then put away 17 kills with three errors against the 49ers.
- Squires leads the team with 421 kills and a 3.79 average and sits second on the team in digs with 326.
- Setter Marissa Alvarez posted her 12 double-double of the year against Long Beach State, handing out 35 assists while picking up 12 digs.
- Alvarez is second in the conference with a 10.29 assist average.
LOOKING AT THE MUSTANGS
- Cal Poly is 3-25 overall and 2-14 in the Big West.
- The Mustangs are looking to snap a seven-game losing streak this week.
- The team is led by Holly Franks, who has 292 kills anda 2.86 kill average.
- Megan McConnell is the team's top blocker with 78 blocks while Niccole Kessler owns the top spot in digs with 310.
- UCI swept Cal Poly earlier this season but the Mustangs still lead UCI 37-21 in the series records.
LOOKING AT THE GAUCHOS
- UC Santa Barbara is 15-16 overall and 8-8 in the Big West to sit in sixth place.
- The Gauchos are led by Leah Sully's 502 kills and she is third in the conference with a 4.02 average.
- Taylor Formico is the Big West leader in digs with 733 and a 5.86 average.
- UC Irvine handed the Gauchos a 3-1 loss in September to improve to 65-9 in the series records.
OFF THE BLOCK
UCI alumna, Whitney Pavlik (2004-05) and Nebraska graduate, Jenny Kropp, were named the Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball National Champions after winning the Huntington Beach Open in September.
Pavlik will be a guest on the Blue and Gold Report Tuesday, Nov 20 at 5:00 p.m. on KUCI 88.9 FM.
