
UC Irvine To Tackle Cal State Northridge, No. 9 Hawai'i in Active Ankle Challenge Matches

GAME NOTES
- Kristin Winkler reached the 2,000 dig mark after picking up 52 digs in two matches last week.
- The senior libero has amassed 2,021 career digs and needs 174 to break the Big West Conference record.
- Winkler has posted at least 20 digs five of the last six matches and is ranked 21st in the nation in dig average.
- Marisa Bubica paced the Anteaters with 31 kills and hit .342 over two matches.
- The redshirt freshman had just one error against San Diego State, putting away 14 of 39 attempts to hit .333. She then blasted a .353 percentage against the Beach, leading UCI with 17 kills.
- Taylor Smith had a season-high 11 kills against LBSU and boasted a .310 hitting percentage after posting just two errors in 29 attempts.
- Arielle Manz and Victoria Dennis provided a spark off the beach in Crawford Court. Manz played one set against the Beach and connected on four of seven attempts to hit .571 while Dennis was 3 for 7 in two sets to finish with a .429 clip.
- UCI's blocking game struggled last week, posting its lowest total of the season against San Diego State. The Anteaters managed just two block assists and a solo block against the Aztecs. However, the team responded with 12 block assist and two solos against LBSU.
NORTHRIDGE NOTES
- The Matadors are 15-7 overall and 6-4 in the Big West, sitting third in the conference standings.
- Britney Graff leads the team with a 2.69 kill average while Mahina Haina sits right behind at 2.68.
- CSUN currently is the best blocking team in the Big West with a 2.94 average.
- The Anteaters upset the Matadors earlier this season, 3-1, to pull even in the all-time series records at 22-22.
WHAT'S UP WITH THE WAHINE
- Hawaii is ranked ninth in the nation and is undefeated in league games at 10-0.
- Emily Hartong tops the Big West with 4.32 kills per set and is hitting .269.
- The Rainbow Wahine are on a 10-game winning streak and in the conference slate were pushed to five sets by three teams (CSUN, CSF and Pacific).
- UCI will be looking for its first win against Hawaii this Saturday and trails 25-0 in the series records.
ACTIVE ANKLE
UC Irvine Athletics and UC Irvine Women's Volleyball are pleased to be partnering with Active Ankle Systems, Inc. for the 3rd annual Active Ankle Challenge. The Active Ankle Challenge was created in an effort to promote the sport of women's volleyball and to demonstrate Active Ankle's continued support, presence, and relationship with volleyball programs across the country. UC Irvine Women's Volleyball has been selected as a host team due to its premier West Coast location and passionate volleyball community support. The UC Irvine Active Ankle Challenge will be the final competition in a campaign that began in August and featured matches at Oregon State, Florida, Louisville, and Purdue University.
