FREE KICKS

  • Since 2009, UCI is 13-4 in matches with the final score of 1-0, the best win percentage of Big West schools (.765).
  • UCI's 30 one-goal wins and .667 win percentage in one-goal games leads all Big West schools since 2009. Cal Poly is second with 24 and a .615 win percentage.
  • Laura McGrail has four game-winning goals of her five goals on the year, tied for most in the Big West.
  • UCI defense has allowed just 19 shots on goal in seven Big West Conference matches and 66 in all 18 matches. The next closest in conference matches is Hawaii 29 shots on goal allowed while UH and CSUF have allowed 83 in all of their matches.
  • UCI's 8.3 fouls per match is lowest in the Big West.
  • All three of UCI's shutouts have come vs. teams either ranked or receiving votes (Auburn, Oregon State, LBSU).

FAR POST

  • UC Irvine will be hosting the women's soccer Big West Tournament this year on November 1st and 4th. The tournament final on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. will be televised live on Fox Sports Prime Ticket.
  • UCI went 5-4-0 on a nine-game road trip that covered 39 days, 4,454 miles, and four states.
  • UCI will face five MAC Hermann Watch List players in 2012: Chelsea Buckland (Oregon State), Nadia Link (LBSU), Lindsi Cutshall (BYU), Kelley Monogue (Texas A&M), and Michelle Pao (Pepperdine).

THROW-INS

  • UC Irvine led the Big West Conference in average home attendance in 2011 at 694. UCI is currently second among Big West schools with an overall average of 702.
  • UCI finished second in the Big West in 2011 in goals-per-game (1.86) and goals-against-average (0.92)
  • UCI was the only Big West school in 2011 to have two players, Natalia Ledezma and Lexi Kopf, record 10+ goals.
  • UC Irvine was held scoreless twice in 2011, the lowest total of any Big West school.

STOPPAGE TIME

  • MINUTES WATCH - Haley O'Brien leads the UCI with 1,659 minutes played and is joined by Zoya Farzaneh (1,632) and Mady Solow (1,581) with 1,500+ minutes. Rachel Wood and Jordan Bruce join O'Brien and Farzaneh in having played every minute of conference action.
  • SAND STORM - Senior Dana Sanderlin is climbing the UCI record book. Most notably, her 82 appearances are one away from the program record of 83 set by four players. Devon Delarosa is also up there with 81 career appearances.
  • ON THE SPOT - Rachel Wood is now 5-5 in penalty kick situations. She's the first Anteater to make five in a season, and surpassed Judy Christopher's record of four career PK goals.

ATTACKING IN NUMBERS

  • Natalia Ledezma and Dana Sanderlin are climbing the records in assists. Ledezma has 16 career while Sanderlin posts 14 putting them tied for fifth and tied for seventh, respectively.
  • UCI has defeated five ranked opponents in the last three seasons: No. 21 Oregon State and No. 21 Auburn in 2012, No. 11 Texas A&M and No. 25 Portland in 2011, and No. 17 San Diego in 2010.
  • Natalia Ledezma and Lexi Kopf each earned a hat trick in consecutive weeks in 2011. The program had just two hat tricks prior in its existence.
  • Corey Tobin is 4-0-1 vs. the Big West this year.
  • Jenn Randazzo's is one save from 100 career.

PRESEASON

  • UC Irvine was picked to finish second in the Big West behind LBSU. The 49ers earned eight of nine first-place votes with UCI earning the ninth.
  • Junior forward Natalia Ledezma and sophomore midfielder Cami Privett were voted to the Big West Preseason All-Conference Team.
  • Natalia Ledezma was ranked 84th among the Top 100 college players to watch according to @TopDrawerSoccer.

SOCCER AT THE NEXT LEVEL

  • UCI alums Danielle de Seriere and CoCo Goodson both play for FC Twente, a soccer club stationed in the Netherlands.
  • FC Twente is currently in first place in the BeNe League Orange at 5-0-2. Goodson has started all seven matches at center back, and scored the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Ajax last month.
  • Rachel Flemming, a 2008 alum, started her first season as a defender for LA Strikers FC. Anteater alums Judy Christopher and Sarah Devine are together on the San Diego SeaLions.
MATADOR MATTERS
  • Head Coach Keith West enters his seventh season with the Matadors.
  • CSUN has impressed at 8-4-5 this season, 5-1-1 in Big West and has recently received votes in the top 25 rankings.
  • The Matadors finished 2011 at 7-10-2, 4-3-1 in Big West play.
  • Melissa Fernandez was named Big West Offensive Player of the Week this past week as she leads the team with six goals, two game-winning goals, five assists, and 17 points.
  • Stephanie Galarze has also added four goals.
  • Stephanie Norton's five assists tie her with Fernandez for the team lead.
  • Cynthia Jacobo has started all 17 matches in net playing all but 90 minutes. She has allowed just 10 goals while stopping 91 shots.
  • CSUN started out with just four goals in its first six matches. In October, the Matadors are averaging more than two goals per match.
  • Jacobo is 19th in the country with a 0.58 goals-against-average. She won her 30th career match Sunday vs. UC Davis to set the all-time record for Cal State Northridge keepers.
  • CSUN has not lost when it outshoots its opponent (5-0-3).

HAWAII HIGHLIGHTS

  • Head Coach Michele Nagamine is in her second season at Hawaii.
  • The Rainbow Wahine are 8-8-2 in 2012 and 3-4-0 in its first campaign with the Big West.
  • Hawaii concluded 2011 with a 5-12-1 record.
  • The Rainbow Wahine come into this weekend's matches just 1-7-0 away from home. In Hawaii, the team is 7-1-2.
  • Tiana Fujimoto is the scoring wizard for UH with eight goals and 18 points.
  • Chelsea Miyake is the only player with two game-winning goals. She also has converted all three penalty kicks and leads the squad with four assists, and is the only player to play all 1,694 minutes.
  • Keeper Kanani Taaca has also played every minute allowing 32 goals while stopping 55 shots in 18 matches.
  • Her defense has also helped out stopping six shots of its own.
  • In 2012, Hawaii has not lost when leading at the half and not won when trailing at half.
