Camille Buckley Joins The UC Irvine Women's Basketball Program

Irvine, Calif. – Women's basketball head coach Molly Goodenbour announced that Camille Buckley, a 6-1, forward, is transferring to the UC Irvine program from Loyola Marymount.

Buckley has signed a scholarship agreement and will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Anteaters, beginning with the 2012-13 season. She will have to sit out next season per NCAA transfer rules.

"We are extremely pleased to announce that Camille Buckley has joined the UCI women's basketball program. I have been a huge fan of Camille's game and style of play since watching her play with current UCI player Jazmyne White in high school. I feel fortunate to have an opportunity to coach her and help her develop over the next few years.

When she becomes eligible, she will immediately help fortify our post play with her size, strength and experience. This season she will have an opportunity to focus on practice and augmenting her offensive and defensive skill set so that she will be better than ever when she hits the floor in 2012".

The forward was honored as the West Coast Conference Newcomer of the Year last season after averaging 6.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. She led the league in rebounding during the conference season with a 10.6 average. She recorded six double-doubles and had 13 games with double-digit rebounds. Buckley collected 254 rebounds in 2010-11 which was the fifth-most in a single season in LMU history.

Buckley attended Colony High School where she was a four-time All-Mt. Baldy selection. She was the CIF 3A co-Player of the Year as a junior.
