Irvine, Calif. -- The University of Alberta defeated UC Irvine, 3-2 (24-26, 16-25, 25-23, 25-16, 15-12) in an exhibition match at Crawford Court Saturday.

UCI led 8-6 in the fifith set before Alberta went on a 7-1 run to take a 13-9 lead. An Austin D'Amore kill in the middle was followed by a Jeremy Dejno blast from the outside pulled UCI within 13-12, but Alberta closed out the match with the final two points.

The Anteaters open the regular season hosting Cal Baptist Wednesday (Jan. 4) at 7:00 p.m. in Crawford Court.
