VETERANS INVITED: In honor of Veterans Day, admission to the UC Irvine women's volleyball match Friday (Nov. 11) against Cal State Northridge will be free to all Armed Forces and Military Personnel.
Military personnel will be admitted free with three guests upon presentation of a military ID at the box office.
WINKLER IN THE RECORD BOOKS AGAIN: Kristin Winkler (Los Altos/St. Francis HS) etched her name in the UCI annals for the second time this year with 33 digs against Cal Poly, the second-most in the program's single-match record. Winkler, set a school record with 34 digs earlier this season against Portland State and she has posted 30 or more digs three times this year.
OLSEN WITH PERSONAL-BEST: Shaina Olsen (Los Gatos/St. Francis HS) logged a career-high 23 digs in the win against Cal Poly. Olsen's previous best this season was a 14-dig effort against Portland State.
TEAM NOTES
- UCI defeated Cal Poly twice this season, winning 3-2 on the road last week.
- The Anteaters scooped up 101 digs against the Mustangs, the second-highest number of digs recorded by UCI this season. The team had 132 digs against Portland State earlier this year.
- The team's 69 kills against Cal Poly were a season-high for the Anteaters.
- Third in the Big West in digs average at 17.48
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Kristin Winkler totaled 74 digs in three matches last week.
o Totaled double-digit digs in 22 of 24 matches
o Posted 33 digs against Cal Poly, second-highest in the UCI single-match records
o Has 1,487 digs and needs five to move to No. 2 in UCI career dig records
o Is second in the Big West in digs at 5.23
Shaina Olsen totaled 42 digs, 38 kills and eight blocks for UCI last week.
o Career-high 23 digs against Cal Poly
o Double-double matches against Cal State Fullerton and the Mustangs
o Tied a career-high with 16 kills against the Titans
Aly Squires led UCI with 45 kills in three matches to go along with 48 digs, eight blocks and three aces.
o Has 13 double-double matches
o Has reached double-figure kills five of the last six matches
o Eighth in the Big West in kill average
Pauline Acres totaled 25 kills, 17 digs and seven blocks last week.
o Career-high 14 kills against Cal Poly
o Personal-best .440 hitting percentage (min. 10 TA) against the Mustangs, putting away 14 of 25 attempts with three errors
Arielle Manz also had a career-high in kills
o Knocked down 13 kills for a personal-best against Cal Poly
o Has registered at least one block assist in four straight matches
Mary Carls is ninth in the conference in assist average at 7.61.
o Had double-double matches against CSF and UC Santa Barbara
o Career-high 17 digs against the Titans to go along with 29 assists
o Weekend-high of 36 assists against Cal Poly
Marissa Alvarez amassed 54 assists and 15 digs in three matches
o Weekend-high of 25 assists agianst Cal Poly
o Eight digs against the Mustangs were the second-highest for the setter this season
Shannon Fleming is ranked fifth in the Big West in blocking average at 1.10.
SERIES RECORDS: UCI defeated UC Riverside earlier in the season, sweeping the Highlanders to improve to 25-10 in the series annals. CS Northridge handed UCI a 3-0 loss earlier this year to tie the series up at 21-21.
