Alys Moore enters her fifth year as as an assistant coach with the UC Irvine women's water polo team in 2026.

Moore played a role in coaching the program to back-to-back Big West Championship titles in 2022 and 2023, as well as leading UCI to a perfect 7-0 record in league play in 2023 en route to the regular season crown.

Moore returned to UC Irvine in 2022 after serving as a volunteer coach for the Anteaters during the 2019 season.

Moore was a member of the U.S. Women's National Team and helped Team USA win Olympic Gold at the Tokyo Games in 2021. She played in every game and finished with eight goals including two in the Gold Medal final against Spain as the U.S. won, 14-5. Moore also helped Team USA win three FINA World Championships (2015, 2017, 2019), five FINA World Super League Finals and two FINA World Cups.

"Most people are in awe of Alys' accomplishments as an Olympic Champion and three-time World Champion," said UCI Head Coach and Director of Water Polo Dan Klatt. "I have been fortunate enough to watch the work behind those accomplishments and the character behind the work. It is true UCI women's water polo has added a brilliant water polo mind to our coaching staff, but more importantly we have added a high character, value driven woman who will help our young women reach their potential in all facets of their lives. Our student-athletes are excited about having Alys join our program, but none of them understand how fortunate they are quite yet. This is a momentous hire that will impact all of our lives in the best ways imaginable."

Moore, a UCLA graduate, was a four time All-American for the Bruins. She helped UCLA advance to the NCAA title game in 2014, 2015 and 2017.

Professionally, Moore competed for CN Sant Andreu in Spain in 2017-18 and helped the team reach the Spanish League Finals.
