Desiree Tran

Desiree Tran enters her third year as an assistant coach with the UC Irvine women’s tennis team in 2018-19.

Tran joined the Anteater staff after serving as a volunteer assistant at Cal State Fullerton in 2016, where she helped the Titans to a 17-6 overall record and a 6-2 mark in Big West play. She has also been a coach with the Corona Youth Tennis League since the summer of 2015.

Tran played collegiately at BYU where she was a two-time All-West Coast Conference selection in singles. She graduated early from high school to start her career with the Cougars in the winter of 2011, and then spent a majority of the next two seasons playing at No. 1 singles. In the fall of her junior campaign, Tran advanced to the Round of 16 at the USTA Division I Women’s Mountain Regional Championships. She did not see a lot of playing time as a senior due to injury.

In 2015, Tran was an undergraduate assistant with the BYU women’s tennis team while she completed her bachelor’s degree in exercise science. Tran, who prepped at Julian Charter School, was among the top-20 in Southern California and the top-100 nationally in the junior tennis rankings.
