• Olympic Silver Medalist in the long jump at the 1988 (Seoul) and 1992 (Barcelona) Summer Games
• Made his third Olympic team in 1996, finishing fifth at the Atlanta Games

AT UC IRVINE
• Competed three years at UC Irvine before transferring to UCLA
• 1984 Big West champion in the high jump
• Holds the high jump school record at 7-00.75, while ranking second in the long jump at 26-05.25

EXTRAS
• Six-time U.S. champion and two-time world champion in the long jump
• Defeated Carl Lewis at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo with a world-record 8.95m (29-04.5)
• Inducted into the USATF Hall of Fame in 2005 and the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020
