• Four-time U.S. Women’s Olympic Rowing Team coach
• Led the women’s eight boat to a gold medal at the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles
• Also coached the women’s double in 1976, the women’s sculls in 1980 and the women’s eight in 1988
• His 1980 team did not get a chance to compete in the Olympics due to the U.S. boycott
