Bruce Man-Son-Hing Sr.

Bruce Man-Son-Hing returned to his alma mater as a volunteer assistant coach in 2017-18. 

Man-Son-Hing played at the top of the lineup for the Anteaters from 1983-86. He etched his name in the UC Irvine record books where he ranks third in singles wins (124), fourth in doubles victories (65) and seventh in win percentage (.697).

Man-Son-Hing was a four-time NCAA singles participant and also helped the 'Eaters advance to the NCAA Round of 16 in 1983. He was the 1985 Big West Player of the Year and led UCI to three consecutive conference titles (1983-85). Man-Son-Hing played under UCI Hall of Fame and NCAA Coach of the Year Greg Patton.

After graduation, Man-Son-Hing played professionally on the ATP Tour from 1986-90. He reached a high ranking of 132 in doubles and 305 in singles. In doubles, he played in all four grand slam events in 1989 with partner John Letts. The duo reached the second round of the Australian Open and Wimbledon Championships.

Man-Son-Hing and Letts were also finalists at two Grand Prix tournaments, and won three challenger events. In 2012, they teamed up to win the ITF Seniors World Championship in doubles (45+ age group). 

Man-Son-Hing and his wife, Ari, reside in Calabasas, California. They have two children, Bruce Jr., a recent UCI men's tennis alum, and Sabrina, who played at CSUN.
