Bryce returns to the staff for a second season after his involvement as a graduate assistant in 2016 where he spent the majority of his time assisting Coach Daniel Bibona with the pitching staff. Following the completion of his degree in Social Ecology at UC Irvine, Bryce joined the staff as the Director of Baseball Operations.

Bryce graduated from La Habra High School in 2005. Playing baseball at La Habra High School, Bryce was honored with First Team All-Area, All-CIF, and All-County awards as a senior. He was tabbed as an Orange County All-Star, All-Area All-Star, and MVP of the Freeway League in 2004.

Bryce pitched at UC Irvine from 2006-08. In 2007, Bryce was ranked as one of the top 50 sophomores in the nation by Baseball America. During his 2008 campaign, Bryce completed the year going 8-3 with a 3.26 ERA over 88.1 innings while striking 101 batters. He was also named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2008 Lincoln Regional. Stowell finished the season tied for 30th in the nation in strikeouts and 33rd in th strikeouts per nine innings at 10.29.

Playing with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod League that summer, Stowell went 3-1 with a 2.36 ERA while posting the second-highest number of strikeouts in the league with 58 over 45.2 innings helping him earn the honor of the 16th-best prospect in the Cape Cod League by ESPN.com while also receiving Cap Cod League Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of July 5-12.

Bryce was selected in the 22nd round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft by the Cleveland Indians, and went on to pitch seven years of professional baseball with Indians and Tampa Bay Rays reaching Triple-A with both organizations. During his professional career, Bryce posted a 3.13 ERA over 334 innings while striking out 432 batters.
