E.A.T.E.R.S ACADEMY
EATERS – Engaged – Authentic – Trustworthy – Educated – Respectful - Student-Athletes
To prepare student-athletes for the challenges of life beyond the playing field, UC Irvine participates in an intensive Life Skills Program known as E.A.T.E.R.S Academy. Based on the premise that the same qualities and skills that are necessary for a student-athlete to attain a level of greatness in athletics, those skills can be applied to “real world” situations, the E.A.T.E.R.S Academy is designed to help student-athletes not only bridge the gap from college life to professional, but also to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
The E.A.T.E.R.S Academy is designed to assist student-athletes with meeting daily challenges, as well as enhance their growth during the college years and beyond. The program provides information to student-athletes by giving them the education and experiences necessary to lead successful lives in society. Through the varied components, student-athletes are able to grow and learn about themselves and others.
All Freshmen and Transfer students will be required to complete the L‘EATER’SHIP Development Series which is developed to engage all student athletes in personal growth and establish a foundation of skills that they can expand on through their time at UC Irvine. The L‘EATER’SHIP Development Series is a yearlong program that will have structured programming in partnership with campus partners, alumni, corporate sponsors and also taught by Academic & Student Services Staff
Student Athletes will also have the opportunity to participate in Anteaters for Success although geared towards Junior and Seniors, it is open for all student athletes. The Anteaters for Success is set to focus on supporting the multiple transitions of student-athletes throughout their college career in their preparation for life after UC Irvine. Students will have programming scheduled throughout the Academic Year to prepare them for the Annual Student Athlete Career Fair in the Spring.
