Seat Equity Plan

UC Irvine Athletics announced Men’s Basketball ticket pricing for the 2016-17 season. Season ticket holders who renew before the July 29th deadline will have an opportunity to renew at the 2015-16 rate and delay any pricing changes until the 2017-18 season.

As a valued season ticket holder we would like to take a moment to explain the importance of these changes to the success of our program. Over the last several seasons we have invested heavily in the fan experience and have seen dramatic increases in student attendance, full season and partial season ticket holders as well as our overall attendance at games. During this time the team has also improved on the court winning 20 or more games the last 4 seasons, winning two Big West Regular Season Championships, earning postseason berths the last 4 seasons and earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

As we look to continue to grow our program we need to find ways to generate the revenue necessary to stay competitive and provide an outstanding student-athlete experience while also providing outstanding value to our season ticket holders.

In putting together our ticket policies we are working to create a season ticket structure that is;

  • Easy to understand and tied to the single game ticket price
  • Provides incentives for fans to purchase multi-game packages
  • Provides incentives for fans to support the program through donations
  • Creates a pricing structure that is competitive in our market and with other collegiate programs across the country

FAQ's

Why do we need to change?
Our season ticket pricing formula has not changed in 5 years. It has been based on a 30% discount off of a $14 reserved ticket and was based on a 16 game home schedule. This led to a single price for all season tickets of $155 per season.

Over the last 5 years our seating options have expanded and several price types of have been introduced.

The new pricing structure starts with the single game price and is tiered based on the desirability of the seat location and the number of games purchased. More desirable seat locations are priced higher and fans receive a steeper discount off the single game price based on the number of games purchased. We have also updated our model to be based on 14 home games instead of 16. With these changes, General Admission Seating and some reserved seats are less expensive than before while other seating locations are subject to a modest per game increase.
