Regular Season Finale Selected For ESPN Wildcard Game

IRVINE, Calif. โ UC Irvine's regular season game against UC Davis on Mar.7 has been selected as the final ESPNU Wildcard broadcast. Game time has been changed to 5:00 p.m.
Following tonight's game at CSUN, UC Irvine ends the season with three home games at the Bren Events Center with two being nationally televised. This Saturday's game (Feb. 28) against UC Santa Barbara at 7:30 p.m. will be on ESPN2 along with the UC Davis game on ESPNU.
With two weeks remaining, UC Irvine (18-10, 11-5 BW) is in a three-way tie for first in The Big West standingsย with Hawai'i and CSUN. The Anteaters, who are currently ranked No. 20 in the College Insider Mid-Major Madness Top 25, are one of the top defensive teams in the nation. Nationally, UC Irvine ranks third in field goal percentage defense (37.8), fourth in blocks per game (6.0) and ninth in defensive rebounds per game (28.75). Senior forward Kyle Evans is the nation's leader in total blocks withย 96 and in average at ย 3.43 per game. Evans, who also contributesย 12.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per outing, is 10 blocks shy of both the UCI and Big West single season block record of 106 held my Mamadou Ndiaye in 2013-14.
The 2026 Credit Union 1 Big West Men's Basketball Championship will be held Mar. 11-14 at the Lee's Family Forum in Henderson, Nevada.
