‘Eaters Set for Oregon State Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's golf is set to compete in its second tournament of the fall slate at the Oregon State Invitational, Oct. 5-6, at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore.
The 'Eaters will take on a competitive 12-team field that includes host Oregon State, Oregon, Gonzaga, Utah State, Boise State, Idaho, Washington State, and Eastern Washington. UCI will also face three fellow Big West programs in Sacramento State, CSUN, and Cal State Fullerton.
LAST TIME OUT
UCI placed 15th at the seasoning opening CDA National Reserve Invitational, Sept 21-22. The 'Eaters tied for first in the field with three eagles throughout the tournament. The squad also tied for seventh in par-5 scoring with a 4.90 average and ranked ninth in par-4 scoring with a 4.24 average. UCI recorded 117 pars and 32 birdies over the three rounds.
A LOOK AT THE LINEUP
UCI will look to three of their newcomers to make an impact on the course. Steven Yang and Rayan Ahmed will continue their young careers at their second collegiate tournament, while Hogan Park will make his Anteater debut. UCI will also send Jason Tang and Owen Davis-Piger to compete in their second tournaments of the season.
Steven Yang returns to the course after leading the 'Eaters in his collegiate debut, tying for 29th at five-over 221. Yang recorded an eagle in the final round, finishing with a four-over 76, after carding a two-over 74 in the second round. He opened the tournament with his best round, shooting a one-under 71. Yang also tied for 11th in the field in par-5 scoring with a 4.75 average, while finishing with eight birdies and tying for 27th with 33 pars.
Jason Tang will compete in his second tournament of the season after tying for 47th with an eight-over 224. Tang recorded an eagle in each of the first two rounds, including a one-under 71 in the opening round. He tied for sixth in the field in par-5 scoring with a 4.67 average and tied for second overall with two eagles. Tang also recorded six birdies and 29 pars throughout the tournament.
Rayan Ahmed is set to compete in the second collegiate tournament of his career after tying for 67th in his collegiate debut with a score of 228. Ahmed posted his best round in the opening round, shooting a two-over 74, before carding a four-over 76 in the final round. He also tied for 16th in the field with 11 birdies and recorded 24 pars over three rounds.
Owen Davis-Piger returns to the course after tying for 79th in the season opener. Davis-Piger led the 'Eaters in the final round with a one-over 73 and matched that score in the second round to pace UCI. He finished the tournament with seven birdies and 31 pars.
Hogan Park is set to make his Anteater debut after transferring to UCI from Eastern Washington, where he earned Big Sky All-Conference Second Team honors and posted a 73.81 stroke average. Park brings a wealth of collegiate experience to the 'Eaters, having also competed at LMU during his sophomore season and UNLV as a freshman. With experience across three collegiate programs, Park will look to make an immediate impact as he begins his UCI career at the Oregon State Invitational.
