Anteaters Battle at ITA Southwest Regionals

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – UC Irvine women's tennis continued competition at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships on Thursday.
Montana Parkinson and Bella Pitchford and Sayuri Parandian and Mackenzie Lukin competed in the doubles Round of 32. Parkinson and Pitchford fell to UCLA's Jessica Bernales and Olivia Center, 8-1, while Parandian and Lukin dropped an 8-6 decision to CSUN's Mika Ikemori and Satsuki Ishikawa.
In singles action, Parkinson faced Pepperdine's Ziva Falkner in the Round of 64, falling 6-1, 6-3. Maily Huynh also competed in the main draw, dropping her match to San Diego's Maria Shmakova, 6-1, 6-2.
The Anteaters are set to continue competition with additional singles and doubles matches tomorrow, Oct. 17. Huynh is scheduled to face Hawai'i's Madis Tennielle, while Parkinson will take on San Diego State's Teja Tirunelveli in extra singles action.
In extra doubles, Huynh and Kara Chen will face Arizona's Stephanie Shogreen and Sara Mlenska. Brady Quin and Rachel Gee are scheduled to meet San Diego's Akira Roy and Shmakova, while Parkinson and Pitchford will take on San Diego's Charlotte Keitel and Lila Grace Bachour. Parandian and Lukin will round out the extra doubles slate against UC Riverside's Susannah Su and Gabriela Pimentel.
