Menβs Tennis Opens 2026 Fall Slate at San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic

IRVINE, Calif. β The UC Irvine men's tennis team opens its 2026 fall tournament slate this weekend at the San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic, Oct. 2-4, in San Diego, Calif.
The eight-team field features host San Diego, Navy, Santa Clara, Washington, Oregon, Grand Canyon, UC Berkeley and UC Irvine. Singles matches will be played as best-of-three sets with a full third set, while doubles matches will be played to six games with a tiebreaker at 6-all.
Action begins Friday with men's doubles at 8 a.m., followed by singles at 9 a.m. Saturday's competition gets underway with men's doubles at 11:30 a.m., with singles scheduled for 12:30 p.m. The tournament concludes Sunday with men's doubles at 11:15 a.m. and singles at 12:15 p.m. All matches will be held at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Complex.
UC Irvine returns six players to its 10-man roster this season, led by senior Max Fardanesh. Fardanesh earned 2026 All-Big West First Team honors in doubles and Second Team honors in singles. Sophomore Greg Gamal also returns after receiving All-Big West honorable mention recognition in singles last season. Juniors Ruining Huang and Mason Bui, along with sophomores Alex Guajardo and Nathaniel Suh, round out the returning group.
The Anteaters also welcome four newcomers to the program this season. Fifth-year transfer Sohrob Amiryavari joins UCI from UNLV, while junior transfer Holland Snell arrives from New Mexico State. Freshmen Dev Mangat and Yashwin Krishnakur round out the newcomers.
Four Anteaters are set to compete at this weekend's San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic. Alex Guajardo, Nathaniel Suh and Greg Gamal will represent the returning group, while Dev Mangat is slated to make his collegiate debut.
RECENT SUCCESS:
UC Irvine is coming off a successful 2025-26 campaign, finishing 5-1 in Big West play to claim a share of the regular-season championship. The Anteaters have now captured either a Big West regular-season title (2023, 2026) or tournament championship (2022, 2024, 2025) in five consecutive seasons.
UCI also advanced to the Big West Championship final for the fifth straight year. The Anteaters have further been represented by the conference's top individual honor in each of the last two seasons, with Hiroki Sakagawa earning Big West Men's Tennis Player of the Year in 2026 and Noah Zamora receiving the honor in 2025.

UCI will take on Oregon in both doubles and singles on Saturday, with competition beginning at 11 a.m. The Anteaters will close out the tournament against Washington on Sunday, with doubles and singles beginning at 11:15 a.m.
