ERIE, Colo. – The UC Irvine men's golf team is tied for 13th after Monday's action at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, which is being played at Colorado National Golf Club.

The Anteaters kicked off their season with an opening round 287 (-1), before recording an even-par 288 in Round 2. Their 36-hole total of 575 is tied with Gonzaga. Long Beach State leads the 19-team field at 544 (-32). LBSU sits one stroke ahead of runner-up Arkansas State (545), while tournament host Colorado is in third (548).

Individually, sophomore
Jack Yu leads the 'Eaters in a tie for 11th. He fired a team-best 10 birdies on the day to finish at 6-under 138 (69-69). In the second round, Yu birdied four consecutive holes (10-13).

Senior
Rei Harashima is tied for 20th with a 36-hole score of 140 (-4). Harashima had an impressive 4-under 68 in the first round, finishing with four birdies and an eagle on the par-4, 364-yard 17th.

Sophomore
Owen Davis-Piger also carded a 148 (72-76), while classmate
Tommy Lin bounced back from a tough first round to close the first day with a 151 (80-71). Junior
Jason Tang rounded out UCI's lineup (160).

Arkansas State's Thomas Schmidt holds a five-stroke lead on the field with an impressive 36-hole score of 127 (64-63).
