Ricky Ojeda Begins Team USA Summer Series

CARY, N.C. --- Ricky Ojeda will participate with the U.S. Collegiate National Team this summer as they train and play representing UC Irvine.

Ojeda was one of the first players announced as having been invited to U.S. Collegiate National Team training on May 16 and looks to become the sixth Anteater to participate on the team joining Anthony Martinez last year, Taylor Sparks, Keston Hiura, and fellow pitchers Scott Gorgen and Andre Pallante.

The sophomore Anteater relief pitcher earned All-American accolades from two different publications, was the Big West's first Pitcher of the Year as a reliever, and claimed all-tournament team status from both the Big West Championship and NCAA Los Angeles Regional finishing with a 13-1 season, two saves, a 3.55 ERA, and 83 strikeouts over 66 innings.

The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp features 56 of the premier non-draft
-eligible college players for a five-game Stars vs. Stripes intrasquad series in North Carolina starting tomorrow, June 29, running through July 3 with a July 4 matchup against the Appalachian League Select Team where the final roster should be announced that will head to Japan for a Collegiate All-Star Championship Series from July 8-13. Ricky Ojeda was named to the 26-player Collegiate National Team squad heading to Japan for the Collegiate All-Star Series against the Japanese team. Play begins July 8 with five games from the 8th to the 13th. Stream and live stats will be provided by USA Baseball via Gamechanger. 


Ojeda appeared twice during the intrasquad series in North Carolina throwing three innings in total and striking out six while allowing two hits and one run.
