IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team opened the Steve Scott Invitational with three event wins Friday at Anteater Stadium.

Liam Miksic led wire-to-wire in his fourth javelin victory of the season. He finished the meet with a best of 66.52 meters (218-3) to win the event by over 29 feet. Miksic is undefeated at home this season and has won six of his seven javelin competitions at Anteater Stadium in his four-year career.
Angel Cordero also earned his fourth 800m victory of the year. Cordero led from the gun, topping the field with a time of 1:49.77.

Joshua Schuld took first in the steeplechase. He finished ahead of the pack in 9:01.70.
Jimmy Markowicz added a sixth-place showing at 9:31.12.

Jerry Roberts was just shy of his season best in the long jump with a mark of 7.07m (23-2.5), while
Jake Reed took sixth in the pole vault (4.52m/14-10).

Zeid Hussain (4:17.39) and
Juan Sanchez (4:19.49) closed out the evening in the mile.

UCI returns to Anteater Stadium tomorrow for a full day of events starting at 11 a.m. The 'Eaters will recognize their graduating seniors in a ceremony scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
