IRVINE, Calif. – No. 41 UC Irvine men's tennis extended its win streak to a season-long four matches with a 4-2 victory over LMU Sunday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The 'Eaters improved to 8-3 overall, while the Lions dropped to 3-8 on the season.

Noah Zamora were first off the court in doubles, making quick work of Sebastian Nothhaft/Youssef Sadek at the top of the lineup. The 90th-ranked Anteater duo won the first three games before LMU got on the board. Nguyen/Zamora then regrouped and continued to roll to the 6-1 victory.

The Lions pulled even with a 6-4 triumph at the second position. That left the doubles point up to court three where

Rithvik Krishna and Jacopo Denitto/Nikola Kuraica were knotted at 6-6. After dropping the first two points of the tiebreaker, the 'Eaters reeled off five unanswered. Denitto/Kuraica then tied it up at 5-all before UCI closed out the decisive 7-6 (7-5) victory.

Zamora, who is ranked 54th in the nation, continued his dominance in singles where he dispatched Arthur Pantino, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1.

At No. 2, Nguyen also took down Nothhaft in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, to give UC Irvine a 3-0 lead. Nguyen earned his team-leading seventh singles victory.

The Lions continued to put up a fight with wins on courts three and six, but Krishna then delivered the match-clinching point for the Anteaters. Krishna battled back from a first-set loss to defeat Sadek, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, at the fourth position.

UCI returns to Anteater Tennis Stadium this week, hosting Navy on Thursday, March 13, and Yale on Friday, March 14.
