IRVINE, Calif. – No. 41 UC Irvine men's tennis continued its winning ways with a 7-0 victory over Villanova Tuesday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

UCI (7-3) extended its win streak to three and has now come out on top in six of its last seven matches.

The Wildcats (1-7) took the early advantage in doubles with a 6-2 triumph at No. 2. Just minutes later,
Sohrob Amiryavari and
Lawee Sherif closed out their third-straight victory, defeating Evan Ancu/Justin Frattarelli, 6-2, on court three.

The doubles point came down to the top of the lineup where the Anteaters' 90th-ranked duo of
Andy Nguyen and
Noah Zamora were up, 4-3, against Kush Anand/Cooper Gordon. The final three games came down to a deuce point, but the 'Eaters were able to hold serve twice for the 6-4 win.

UC Irvine was dominant in singles where it did not drop a set.
Ruining Huang set the tone as he made quick work of Thomas Wakefield, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3.
Sohrob Amiryavari followed with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Cameron Kruep at the fifth position.

Max Fardanesh delivered the match-clinching point on court four where he upended Kush Anand, 6-2, 6-1.

The two teams played out the final three matches. No. 54
Noah Zamora returned to No. 1 singles after playing at No. 2 in yesterday's win, and dispatched Cooper Gordon, 6-2, 6-1.

Rithvik Krishna moved into the second spot in the lineup for the first time this season. He was up 5-4 against Trey Fourticq in the opener, but was facing a 40-15 deficit before coming all the way back to win the game and the set, 6-4. Krishna kept the momentum in the second frame with a 6-1 victory.

Mason Bui also made his dual-match debut at No. 6 singles where he took down Quincy Jones, 6-1, 7-5. Bui battled back after trailing 5-4 in the second set.

UCI continues its homestand on Saturday, March 8, when it welcomes Grand Canyon to Anteater Tennis Stadium for a 12 p.m. match.
