UCI Hosts Thursday Doubleheader Before A Road Test On Friday

IRVINE, Calif.— UC Irvine is set for a trio of matches in a two-day span, hosting both UC San Diego and Stanton for a doubleheader on Thursday Mar. 27 before heading up to Westmont on Mar. 28.

Scouting UC San Diego
UC San Diego heads into the contest with a 7-7 overall record and are 2-2 in the Big West ledger. The Tritons dropped 4-3 to Dartmouth on Monday (Mar. 24) after being off for 14 days following their 6-1 victory over No. 66 Fresno State on Mar. 7. UCSD will face UC Riverside on Wednesday Mar. 26 in La Jolla before heading to Irvine on Thursday.
 
The Tritons are led by No. 57 Julia Haynes in individual action who is 11-2 all at No. 1, is on a five-match winning streak, and is 9-1 in her last 10 outings. Haynes is supported by Adriana Tabares' seven wins at No. 5 and Athena Wardy's seven victories at No. 6. UCSD has not been as strong on the doubles side of matches with all three of their pairings dropping at least two in a row. However, Haynes and her partner Naomi Nguyen have the most doubles victories on the team with five (5-8) at the top spot.
 
Scouting Stanton
Stanton, who is part of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, heads over from nearby Anaheim to compete in the second part of a doubleheader on Thursday (Mar. 27). The Elks have only played seven matches this season and competed against common opponent Occidental.
 
Scouting Westmont
Westmont enters the match with a 4-12 overall record and have not competed in any conference matches. The Warriors have lost nine straight matches with their last win coming on Feb. 26 to Cal State Los Angeles, 5-2.
 
Three Westmont players have three individual wins each, a team-high. The doubles pairing of Francesca Aguirre and Justie Spitzer are 5-0 overall, split 2-0 at No. 2 and 3-0 at No. 3.
