IRVINE, Calif. – Sophomore attacker
Lauren Hett has been named to the Peter J. Cutino Award Watch List announced by USA Water Polo Friday morning.
Â
Hett is the first player in the program's history to be named to this list.
Â
Through 20 games, the reigning Big West Freshman of the Year is leading UC Irvine's offense combining 47 goals and 18 assists for 65 points. Her goals and points totals sit seventh overall in the Big West so far this season. Additionally, the attacker has notched eight hat-tricks during the 2025 season and has matched her career-high five goals twice.
Â
Hett is three goals from hitting the 50-goal season milestone and it would be the 24th time a UCI player will do so. She is also 13 away from hitting 100 in her two-year collegiate career (87).
Â
The Peter J. Cutino Award, named in honor of the late Hall of Fame coach, recognizes the best player in men's and women's college water polo. The top 20 athletes, as submitted by varsity college coaches, have been recognized for their outstanding play.
Â
While it's possible the 2025 Cutino Award winner will come from the list of athletes below, this list of honorees is completely independent from the nomination and voting process of the Cutino Award as that honor will acknowledge the full impact of the 2025 season.Â
