Anteaters Back In Action For Three Matches

IRVINE, Calif.— The Anteaters resume non-conference action this week, first hosting Oakland on Wednesday (Feb. 26) before making the trip through the desert to New Mexico State (Mar. 1) and UTEP (Mar. 2).

Scouting Oakland
Oakland is heading out West for two matches, the first at Redlands (Feb. 25) before facing the Anteaters. The Golden Grizzlies enter the week with a 2-4 record and are currently on a two-match skid.
OU won the doubles point in their last time out with a 6-3 win by Edie Hammond and Martyna Piechowicz on court one and a 6-2 victory by Emilia Jarvinen and Josie Ward on court two. Both Jarvinen and Ward took down their Niagara University opponents.
Scouting New Mexico State
New Mexico State heads into the weekend with an 8-5 overall record, dropping their last outing. The Aggies take on UCI's Sunday opponent, UTEP, on Friday Feb. 28 before moving on to the contest with the Anteaters.
Both Nadia Nemeth and Montana Parkinson-Lubold have eight individual wins on the year. Nemeth earned seven victories at No. 4 and one at No. 5 while Parkinson-Lubold is a perfect 3-0 at No. 5 while collecting five of her wins at No. 6. Additionally, Anna Pinaieva has seven wins in singles, all at the top spot in the lineup with a 7-2 record. Nemeth and Pinaieva team up as a doubles pairing, going 8-4, a team best in wins at the No. 1 position.
Scouting UTEP
UTEP holds a 4-2 overall record on the year and are coming off a 4-0 victory against Lamar for the program's best start to the season in a decade. The Miners will be well-rested heading into the match after seeing both their matches in the last week be canceled.
UTEP took the double point against Lamar with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 by Wendy Zhang and DeCora Antione and 6-4 rout at No. 1 by Carlotta Mencaglia and Hanna Telzynska. Mencaglia, Antione, and Zhang earned the singles points for the shutout win, 4-0.

- M. Huynh finished first on court five with a 6-0, 6-2 win before Y. Huynh handled Sebaga Kombo at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0
