UC Irvine Hits 20 Wins With 73-66 Victory Over UC Davis

IRVINE, Calif. – Center Bent Leuchten posted his 11th double-double of the season in RV UC Irvine's 73-66 victory over UC Davis at the Bren Events Center Saturday afternoon.

With the win, UCI became the third team in the country to win 20 games this season (20-3), for the 15th 20-win season in program history and 10th under head coach Russell Turner. The Anteaters recorded their 20th win in 23 games, matching the 2000-01 squad as the fastest to accomplish the feat. UCI's home winning streak extends to 22 straight.

Leuchten, who ranks eighth nationally in double-doubles, had a game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds and dished a career-best six assists in addition to two blocks. The center went 5-11 from the floor and 9-9 from the free throw line in 30 minutes of action.

FROM HEAD COACH RUSSELL TURNER
"I feel really good about the outcome today. The fact that we had to fight hard for it and went through some things in the first half that we needed to go through. I told the guys don't take this for granted. There are a lot of guys who play college basketball that never experience a 20-win season. We have experienced a lot of those, and I am grateful to so many people who were a part of that and we have a long way to go. We have an open day on Thursday, so we have the opportunity to get a lot better. I am excited for what remains possible for this group. I am appreciative of the support we are getting now from this community and hopefully it continues to grow as we go into a big-time matchup next week against UC San Diego."

"Bent [Leuchten] is a stud. If he continues to assert himself, he is as good as any guy in this league. Bent is a really good basketball player. He is a really tough dude. He has a lot to continue to growth through and I am grateful we are a part of it. Also, let's not forget that he is great because of the guys around him."
