UC Irvine Earns Four All-Big West Honors

IRVINE, Calif. - Four UC Irvine men's water polo players earned All-Big West honors, the conference announced Friday. 

Senior Luka Krstic and sophomore Cole Francisco landed on the All-Big West Second Team, while juniors Johann Thrall and Wyley Dale garnered honorable mention distinction.

Krstic received his third Big West postseason honor in his final year with the 'Eaters. The senior was UCI's second leading scorer with 45 goals and tied for second on the team with 21 assists. His 66 points ranks third on the squad. His goal total, points-per-game (2.4), and goals-per-game (1.7) all rank ninth in the Big West. The attacker received one Big West player of the week honor after recording a pair of multi-goal games against the top-two ranked teams in the country, finishing with two at No. 1 UCLA and three vs. No. 2 USC. 

Francisco earned his third postseason honor in his second year with the Anteaters. The sophomore was second on the team with 69 points and 31 goals, while recording a team-best 38 assists. His assist total ranked third in the Big West and his 1.4 assists per game tied for the best in the conference. The attacker also recorded 2.6 points per game which ranked seventh in the Big West. Francisco received one Big West player of the week honor after tallying 10 points on four goals and six assists against two top-15 ranked teams.

Thrall secured his fourth Big West postseason honor in his third year with the 'Eaters. The junior led the team, ranked sixth in the Big West, and set a new season-best with 60 goals on the season. He led the Anteaters and tied for second in the conference with 81 points, while tying for second on the team with 21 assists. The attacker also tied for second in the Big West in points-per-game (3.0), and ranked fifth in goals-per-game (2.2). 

Dale notched his first postseason honor in his third year with the Anteaters. The center ranked third on the team and set a new season-best with 39 goals on the year. He added two assists for 41 points to rank fifth on the squad. The junior ranked second in the Big West with 13 field blocks. Dale also set a new single-game career-high of six goals against Wagner on Oct. 3.
