IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women's tennis team closed play at the Jack Kramer Classic in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. on Sunday.

The Anteaters played in six matches on the last day of the tournament, all against Boise State's women's tennis team, winning three.

Amanda Perez and Yen Nhi Huynh both picked up singles wins for UC Irvine while Huynh combined with Haily Huynh for a doubles victory on Saturday.

Over the weekend at the Jack Kramer Classic, the Anteaters collected nine wins — six came via singles matches while three came in doubles matches. Perez led the way for the Anteaters, going 3-0 in her singles matches and playing on the first line throughout the tournament.

UC Irvine will end its fall season in split-squad fashion, playing Nov. 7 through Nov. 9 at both the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational and CSUN Fall Invitational.

FROM ASSISTANT COACH HERMONT LEGASPI

"This past weekend at the Jack Kramer Club was a great opportunity for our four 'Eaters to build confidence and compete against strong opponents as we prepare for spring play. [Y. Huynh] and [H. Huynh} went 2-0 in doubles against Fresno State and Boise State, showing excellent communication and adaptability, while [A. Perez] and [C. Fowler] earned a strong 6-2 win over a USC duo that included the recent Southwest Regional champion. AP also led the team in singles with an impressive 3-0 record, showcasing her growth and ability to create her own opportunities on court. Overall, the team displayed great fight, support for one another, and the kind of potential that will continue to build momentum heading into the spring season."

FROM AMANDA PEREZ:

"The Kramer tournament was a great opportunity for me and the rest of my team to compete against lots of great competition and with energy. In doubles, Lyna and I took advantage of the opportunities we got at the net and were able to get a good win. I'm also proud of myself and the rest of the team for fighting for every point and getting great wins. Playing as a hidden-dual format gave us a glimpse into the regular season, and I'm excited to continue our energy into our final fall tournament and eventually season!"
