SACRAMENTOÂ - The UC Irvine women's cross country team finished 14th at the NCAA West Regional Friday at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. It was the Anteaters' best regional showing in three years.

No. 14 Stanford won the team title with 66 points, while fourth-ranked Oregon took second with 75 points. Washington State's Rosemary Longisa was the individual champion (19:08.3).

Kaia Schmidt was UCI's top finisher, covering the 6K course in 21:01.2 to come in 60th out of 263. This season, Schmidt led the 'Eaters in all four of her races. She was an All-Big West performer and was twice named the Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

Emma Hadley was right behind Schmidt in 64th with a time of 21:06.2.

Makena Castillo was next across the line for UC Irvine in 21:48.0 to place 104th. Sophomores
Rachel Moen (21:53.5) and
Liana Lee (21:59.0) were also 112th and 118th, respectively.

Nicole Contreras (22:15.6) rounded out the Anteaters' lineup.
