LONG BEACH, Calif. – Middle blocker Sydnee Rowe's impressive performance was not enough as UC Irvine dropped a 3-0 (15-25, 23-25, 22-25) decision to Long Beach State at the Water Pyramid Saturday.

Rowe had a career-high 10 kills in 17 attempts without an error (.588). The graduate student also had six total blocks (2 solo).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Outside hitter Kendra Duffey recorded nine kills and 10 digs
>Middle blocker Ally Bolden totaled five kills
>Setter Nicole Feliciano had 24 set assists, five digs, two kills and a block assist
>Libero Campbell Jensen recorded a match-high 15 digs
>Ava Gronemeyer put away a career-best three kills and added a block assists
>The Beach out-hit UCI .270-.162 and held a 8.5-7.0 advantage in blocks, digs (56-44) and aces (7-3)
>LBSU (17-6, 10-2) was led by Madi Maxwell and Nieko Thomas' 10 kills

FIRST SET
>UCI started 3-1 on a kill by Sydnee Rowe, solo block by Madison Triplett, a block by Rowe and Lois Hansen
>Two LBSU kills and two UCI errors moved The Beach in front 6-4
>A 7-1 run by Long Beach State, which included five kills stretched the lead to 19-11
>LBSU won 25-15 on consecutive kills

SECOND SET
>Three kills from Rowe gave the Anteaters a 4-2 lead
>Two kills and a block helped LBSU out to a 10-7 advantage
>A kill, solo block and block assist by Rowe moved UCI in front 12-11
>The Beach answered with the next four, the last two blocks to regain the lead, 15-12
>Three more on a kill, Anteater attack error and block forced a UCI timeout, 18-14
>Down , 16-22, UCI rallied on kills from Bolden, Duffey and Romero plus an ace by Emma Napoleon, and block by Rowe and Feliciano, 22-22
>LBSU would score three of the final points to win the set 25-23

THIRD SET
>An early 4-1 lead by Long Beach grew to 7-3 on a pair of kills and an ace
>The Anteaters were ignited by kills from Feliciani and Duffey and an ace by Emma Napoleon, 10-11
>The Beach responded with a 5-1 run to extend the margin back to 16-11
>A kill and block assist by Ava Gronemeyer sparked a 6-1 run that tied the set at 19-19 on a kill by Feliciano
>Once again Long Beach State had an answer rattling off the next four, 23-19
>A Long Beach service error and ace by Napoleon made it interesting before LBSU ended the match with a kill.

NOTES
>Napoleon had two aces and now has eight on the season
>UCI snaps a three-match winning streak and goes to 10-14 overall and 5-7 in the Big West
