IRVINE, Calif. – Sophomore Ethan Spoon has been named the Big West Men's Water Polo Player of the Week the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon. Â
Spoon finished with 10 goals, including a career-high six against Occidental to lead the Anteaters to a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Lancer Joust in Riverside. Spoon's career-best performance on Saturday led the 'Eaters to a season-high 23 goals against the Tigers. He also scored twice in UCI's 16-7 win over Biola, notching his second multi-goal game of the weekend. Â
For the week, Spoon converted on 10 of his 16 shot attempts (.625) and added one assist. He now ranks third on the team with 24 goals on the season. Â
This is Spoon's first career Big West weekly award, and the second for UC Irvine in 2025. Â
