Sakagawa, Zamora Start Season at ITA All-American Championships

IRVINE, Calif. - Seniors Noah Zamora and Hiroki Sakagawa are set to kick off the fall tournament season for UC Irvine men's tennis at the prestigious ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sept. 21-29.
The ITA All-American Championships start with pre-qualifying singles and doubles, Sept. 21-22. The qualifying draw follows on Sept. 23-24, while the main draw will take place, Sept. 25-29.
Zamora is one of 48 automatic main draw qualifiers and will begin singles play in the Round of 64 on Wednesday, Sept. 25. He is 121st in the ITA Division I Men's National Preseason Singles Rankings. Zamora is a three-time All-Big West selection in both singles and doubles. This will be his third consecutive appearance in the ITA All-American Championships after competing in the pre-qualifying round in 2022 and 2023.
Sakagawa is part of the 128-player pre-qualifying singles draw. Last year, which was his first as an Anteater, Sakagawa was a first-team All-Big West selection in singles and earned second-team honors in doubles.
Sakagawa and Zamora are also entered in the ITA All-American Championships doubles draw. The duo came in at No. 90 in the preseason doubles rankings.
This year, the NCAA Individual Championships will be held in the fall, and the ITA All-American is one of four qualifying tournaments. Ten student-athletes will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists), while all four doubles main draw semifinalists will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship.
