LAS VEGAS — UC Irvine men's basketball alumni JC Butler won the NBA 2K25 Summer League Championship with the Miami HEAT on Monday evening, 120-118, over the Memphis Grizzlies in a thrilling overtime match up.
 
The HEAT went a perfect 6-0 in their run in Las Vegas, coming out on top in group play before topping the Golden State Warriors 102-99 in the semifinals.
 
During the championship run, the forward played 16 minutes versus the Toronto Raptors (W, 109-73) scoring six points (2-4 FG) including a three-pointer and grabbed five rebounds.
 
Butler graduated from UC Irvine in 2023 with a degree in sociology. During his time with the Anteaters, Butler was a part of four championships including the program's first win in the NCAA Tournament in 2019 over the fourth-seeded Kansas State.
