Andar, Robinson Highlight USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

USTFCCCA All-Academic Release

IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine women's track & field has been named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, while juniors Sameen Andar and Jolie Robinson earned individual honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
 
The Anteaters received their 11th team recognition in the last 15 years. To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, programs must carry a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
 
Andar was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic athlete for the second time in her career. She was an NCAA West First Round qualifier and All-Big West performer in the 10,000-meter run. At the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 11), Andar clocked a personal-record 33:07.48, which ranks second in program history. Her time was only .38 seconds off the school record that was set by Beth McGrann in 1989.  During the indoor season, she broke her own 5,000-meter school record at 16:31.81 to claim runner-up honors at the MPSF Championships. Andar has also been recognized on the CSC Academic All-District Team, Big West Spring All-Academic Team and MPSF All-Academic Team in 2024. She is majoring in biological sciences.
 
Robinson received her first career USTFCCCA All-Academic award. The Mission Viejo, California, native was named the Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Meet for the second year in a row. Robinson scored 22 points at the Big West Championships as she defended her title in the heptathlon, was the runner-up in the long jump and placed fifth in the javelin. Her season-best of 5,220 points in the heptathlon ranked 35th in the West Region. During the indoor season, Robinson finished third in the pentathlon with a personal-record 3,660 points at the MPSF Championships. Her score ranks second in program history. Robinson was also recognized on the Big West and MPSF All-Academic Teams. Robinson is majoring in educational sciences.
 
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at their current institution. They also must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West.
