Josh Farmer had a career-best 12th-place finish in the decathlon Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.

With his top-16 showing, Farmer earned his third career second-team All-America honor. He previously finished 14th (2022) and 16th (2021) at the NCAA Championships. He is the Anteaters' first three-time NCAA Division I All-American in the decathlon.

Farmer, who compiled 7,647 points, had a strong finish to the grueling two days as he set personal records in two of the final three events.

The day started with the 110m hurdles where Farmer clocked in at 15.23 seconds. He then recorded a best of 38.87 meters (127-6) in the discus.

In the pole vault, Farmer did not miss at his first five heights. He cleared the bar on his first attempt at 4.31m, 4.41m, 4.51m, 4.61m and a personal-record 4.71m (15-5.5). He placed seventh out of 23 competitors.

Farmer kept the momentum in the javelin where he put together three solid throws. He climbed up to third in the competition with a lifetime-best 56.78m (186-3) on his final attempt. The San Diego native then closed out the meet in the 1500m where he was eighth overall at 4:38.30.

Farmer concluded a decorated collegiate career in which he earned All-America honors in each of his three seasons at UCI. He was also the 2024 Big West decathlon champion and ranks second in school history with a personal-record 7,703 points.
