CSCÂ At-Large Academic All-District Team
IRVINE, Calif. – Juniors
Zachary Baxter and
Jack Stevens have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) At-Large Academic All-District Team.
Baxter put together 23 points in 28 games played with 10 goals and 13 assists. The attacker also helped on the back line blocking five shots and was credited with 12 takeaways. The junior is a three-time recipient of both the ACWPC All-Academic and GCC All-Academic honors and placed on the Big West Fall Academic team this year. Baxter just graduated with his degree in Public Health Sciences.
Stevens, an All-Big West Honorable Mention, totaled 40 points on the season with 27 goals and 13 assists as well as recording 28 steals. The center's defining moment of the season was when he scored the game winning goal in overtime in the regular season meeting with UC Davis, 13-12, to help UC Irvine take first place in the league standings. Stevens is a two-time ACWPC All-Academic Team member and placed on the Big West Fall All-Academic squad as he works towards his degree in Business Economics.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. Student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and have competed in 90% of the team's total games played OR have started 66% of the team's total games. The At-Large category includes the sports of water polo, fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, men's volleyball, and wrestling.
