Zamora Continues Singles Success on ITF World Tennis Tour

SAN DIEGO - After leading UC Irvine men's tennis to its second Big West Championship in the last three years, junior Noah Zamora has continued his success on the ITF Men's World Tennis Tour.

In the M15 San Diego event held at Barnes Tennis Center from May 27-June 2, Zamora won his first two matches to advance to the quarterfinal of the main draw. In the first round, he defeated Pepperdine's Chris Papa, 6-4, 6-2. He carried that momentum into the second round where he upset the tournament's No. 3 seed Alafia Ayeni in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. It was a big win for Zamora as Ayeni held an ATP Singles Ranking of 520.

Zamora was back at Barnes Tennis Center this past week for another M15 tournament, June 3-9. He did not drop a set in qualifying as he cruised past Jaycer Lyeons, 6-3, 6-3, and Ewen Lumsden, 6-2, 6-3, to advance to the main draw. Lumsden owns a singles UTR of 13.06.

In the main draw, Zamora came from behind to defeat Nikita Filin in a 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1 thriller. Filin is a top-10 ranked recruit who signed with Ohio State.

Zamora is a three-time All-Big West selection in both singles and doubles. Since his arrival at UC Irvine, the Anteaters have won two Big West Championships (2022, 2024) and claimed a share of the conference's regular-season title in 2023.
