Paris Bound! Tara Prentice Named To U.S. Olympic Team

LOS ANGELES – USA Water Polo announced former UC Irvine All-American, Big West champion, and two-time NCAA Women of the Year nominee Tara Prentice has made the U.S. Women's Water Polo Team for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Prentice becomes UCI's first women's water polo Olympian.

She won her second World Championship title with Team USA back in February, punching the Americans ticket to Paris.

At UCI, Prentice helped the Anteaters to their eighth Big West championship in 2022 recording a school record 74 goals in a season along with 242 career tallies. Prentice was named the Big West Player of the Year in her final season at UC Irvine.

OLYMPIC INFORMATION
Water polo competition at the 2024 Olympic Games kicks off at the Aquatics Center, located in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis. The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will be competed at La Defense Arena – about nine miles west of the Olympic village. Women's Olympic water polo competition kicks off July 27 and runs through August 10. Team USA opens Group B play against Greece on July 27.

Women's water polo joined the Olympic program in 2000; since then, Team USA has medaled in every Olympic Games. This summer in Paris, the U.S. women will be seeking their fourth-consecutive Olympic gold medal.
